CHRISTIAN RIESE LASSEN CREATES NEW MASTERPIECE INSPIRED BY AUSTRALIAN TOUR
Artist Christian Riese Lassen has completed his latest work called, "Freedom". The painting features dolphins jumping out from a classic, "surfer's wave". Lassen began surfing in his native Maui while a junior high school student and was professionally ranked by age 20.
"Freedom" was created on a month long painting tour of the Australian coast in April of 2003. While he was there, Lassen surfed each day and the inspiration for "Freedom" came from those excursions. The painting has a special importance for the artist because it includes two of the most important elements in his life, creating art and surfing.
